Toyota announces more Japan plant shutdowns

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) — Toyota Motor Corp. will shutter factories in Japan for a combined 11 days during February and March to in an effort to reduce capacity amid the global slowdown, according to reports Tuesday.
The automaker, Japan’s largest by volume, will shutter production lines at all 12 domestic plants on various days during the two month period, according to published reports. The closures, which are still being worked out in detail, will affect four plants that produce vehicles and other that produce parts. Toyota has already decided to shutter production at 11 plants in Japan for three days in January.
